The Sabari rail project has got a shot in the arm with an allocation of Rs 220 crore, nearly double the last year's outlay, for its execution in the Union budget. It also has sanctioned the doubling Thiruvananthapuram-Kanyakumari line and a third line in the Ernakulam-Shornur section. It has provisions for doubling works in the Kottayam section besides that in the Ernakulam-Alappuzha-Kayamkulam coastal railway sector.
“The Centre has allocated a total outlay of Rs 923 crore to the state for various railway projects for the year 2018-19. The new projects announced are the Rs 1518-crore doubling in the Thiruvananthapuram-Kanyakumari section and a third line in the 107-km long Ernakulam-Shornur congested sector,” said a railway spokesperson, quoting from the budget details presented

in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday.
With the substantial allocation, the work of the 116-km long Angamaly-Sabarimala rail project is expected to gather steam. Though sanctioned in 1998, the project came to a standstill after the setting up of the 7.5 km Angamaly-Kalady line in 2010, mainly due to the fund crunch and alignment issues. “The land acquisition at Kunnathunadu, Muvattupuzha and Kothamangalam taluks will be completed soon. The project is executed jointly by the railways and the state, and we expect the state to chip in with its share,” a senior railway official said.
The budget allocated Rs 56.5 crore for doubling in Kuruppanthara-Chingavanam (26.54 km) section, Rs 17.9 crore for that in the Chengannur-Chingavanam (26.5 km) section and Rs 6.40 crore in the Mulanthuruthy-Kuruppanthara (24 km) section. For the doubling works in the coastal railway section, a sum of Rs 21 crore was allocated for the Ernakulam-Kumbalam-Turavur (23 km) section. The budget also provides for a new railway line in Thirunavaya-Guruvayur section, the second phase of coaching terminal at Kochuveli, an additional pitline at Ernakulam and additional platforms at stations like Kannur.

: The
passengers of Eranad Express blocked Jan Shatabdi Express at Thuravoor railway station in Alappuzha district on Monday morning. The passengers were irked over
the railway authorities’ move to allow passage of Jan Shatabdi after halting Eranad at Thuravoor.
Due to ongoing works, the Eranad arrived at Cherthala station 30 minutes late. Further, the train was halted at Thuravoor for allowing passage

of Jan Shatabdi, which in turn, annoyed the passengers.
The regular commuters say it has become a common practice. The Eranad Express starts journey from Thiruvananthapuram at 3.35 am while Jan Shatabdi originates from the same station at 6 am.
Meanwhile, railway officials say the Jan Shatabdi was allowed a oneminute stop at Thuravoor for the benefit of
those travelling in Eranad. However, they failed to grasp the opportunity and resorted to the blockade, they added

New is half incorrect.
Ernad departed NCJ with delay of 1hour and in run it got attained another 30min late, by the time it reached Thuravoor. So point that Ernad left TVC 3.35 is baseless. JS also got almost same delay of 30min by the time it reached Thuravoor. Really bad part from passenger of ernad.
And finally because of this travellers from both the train suffered. Both the train got delayed by another 1.5 hours. For an overtake, this passenger association people stopped a train and ended up

I think that is precisely the reason why so many trains are not being speeded up fearing repercussions from the numerous passenger associations.
Venad express wastes almost 2 hours right from departure from Aluva, arrival at ERS, loco reversal, lots of slack and then finally departure.
Island express has been allotted almost 1 hour between Tripunithura and ERN to cover 13 km of double line.

guess all their times have been fixed keeping in mind these daily passengers.

Leave the venad. Our Dhanbad-Alleppey. Train which departs from CBE at 11AM, reaching ALLP only at 9.15. Almost 10hour 15min for such a small distance.
Clear indication of Kerala's very bad attitude of Passenger association. There are many such trains which becomes prey of this. Like YPR-CAN, DHN-ALLP, MS-MAQ,Island.
I feel sorry for SR, they are helpless and cant do anything with speed up of our trains bcoz of such association.

There was lots of protest earlier and media highlight regarding DHN-Allp run from SRR till Allp. And in this time table they simply did one thing... They delayed the arrival at SRR by giving 2 hour running time between CBE-PGT. It now arrives late at SRR. The new time is 2:40pm & arrives ERS at 5:30pm.
Even though 3 hours is still too much, yet it is a good time for people to board at ERS going towards Allp. Two weeks back when i saw this train at ERS, i found it to be almost jampacked with daily passengers

For this daily passenger service only, a long distance train has been made to run like that in CBE-PGT run. In spite of a passenger training running behind this train. They want a long distance train.
