Prayagraj is the most populous district in the state and is also known as a religious and spiritual city. Several state-level offices, including the Allahabad High Court, are located in Prayagraj. Despite being the location of the General Manager and Divisional Railway Manager offices, 24 pairs of trains do not stop here, while all of these trains stop at Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Junction, located approximately 150 km away. Considering the upcoming Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj next year, a demand has been made to ensure that all trains passing through the city stop there. Joshi urged Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma to request the Railway Minister to extend the route of train number 12825, Jharkhand Sampark Kranti, to Jaipur and introduce a weekly train service from Ranchi to Ajmer/Jaipur. He mentioned that the Ranchi-Ajmer Garib Nawaz Express, which operated before the COVID-19 pandemic, has been discontinued. The Chamber of Commerce and various social and religious organizations, along with several MPs from Jharkhand and Rajasthan, have also written to the Railway Minister regarding this matter.
