The first Vande Bharat Sleeper train will operate between Patna and Delhi, covering the distance at a speed of approximately 160 km per hour. It will consist of 16 coaches and will take 8 hours to reach Delhi from Patna. The train will have a total of 823 berths, significantly more than the 530 seats on the existing Vande Bharat Chair car trains, which have 8 coaches. The Railway Minister stated that the train is designed for middle-class passengers and the fare is expected to be comparable to Rajdhani Express fares. The initial plan is to operate the train for distances ranging from 800 to 1200 km, aiming to make it the preferred choice for overnight journeys. The Vande Bharat Sleeper train is expected to commence operations by December. The coaches are ready, and the train will undergo trials for the next 2 months before being made available for passengers. It's designed for overnight journeys where passengers can board after dinner and reach their destination by breakfast.
