deepak_kukkar~ 369 blog postsTrain no. 14526 (SGNR-UMB intercity express) has a pathetic time table and huge slack. Firstly, there are two crosses b/w SGNR and ABS. As a result, the train takes nearly 1.5 hours to reach ABS. Then it remains idle at BTI station for more than 1 hour. On a whole,. the average speed of this train enroute patiala is in the range of 40 Km/h. If NWR really desires to improve its efficacy, then they should start this train from SGNR at 14:50 hours instead of 13:35 hours as of today. I have been travelling on SGNR-UMB route for more than 20 years but there is hardly any speed increase in any of the express trains including this one. What is the fun in spending tax payers money on electrification and doubling, if the average speed of the train goes on decreasing every year, causing pain to the travellers.

akshu51 775 blog poststhis largely unpopular train is the fastest rail connectivity between delhi and bangalore, and often berths will be available even tiil the last moment, maintains excellent speed for most part of the journey except the tough gradients of SWR between DMM and YPR, but still manages to beat the rajdhani by one hour in terms of speed.(with similar halts, but of technical nature)

Earlier this train was most punctual train of this route,but from past 1-2 year,its punctuality is degrading. If you are going to kolkata and you have a onward journey in some other train,then please keep a buffer of about 5 hours. Its the case in summers,but if its winters,then don't even think of any link train from kolkata after this. because there is no rule book by which it gets late. During the hot month of june-july,it gets late by 3-4 hr,so in winters no guarantee.
