However, in 2021, the Railways changed the propulsion system design, rendering the previously manufactured components unusable. This resulted in Rs 46 crore worth of materials and six coach shells, costing Rs 8.57 crore, being idled. The CAG report criticized the Ministry for not explaining the reason for the change in the propulsion system, leading to this waste of resources.
