The third wave of Covid-19 is already here, Mumbai mayor Kishori Pednekar said on Tuesday as she cautioned people against celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi outside their homes amid the rising cases of Covid-19 and positivity rate over the past few days in the city as well as Maharashtra. "The third-wave [of Covid-19] is not coming, it is already here. It has already been declared in Nagpur,” Kishori Pednekar told reporters. Pednekar also urged people in Mumbai to remain at home during Ganesh Chaturthi, which will begin on September 10, as she stressed that they should wear masks and take other precautions to stop the spread of Covid-19.
Pednekar was referring to Nagpur guardian minister Nitin Raut remarks that the city is already been hit by the third wave of Covid-19. "Today, after a long time, we have come down to twice as many positive cases. We have a third wave," Nitin Raut was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.

Manduadih is a place in Varanasi situated about four kilometres from Varanasi Cantt Station. The Diesel Locomotive Works (DLW), where engine parts of the train are manufactured, is situated near Manduadih. Varanasi, also called Banaras and Kashi, was chosen in 2014 by Narendra Modi to contest the Lok Sabha polls from city of Uttar Pradesh. The name Varanasi is said to be derived from combination of 'Varuna' and 'Asi' — the names of rivers. Kashi is the ancient name of Varanasi. When the name change was proposed two years ago, Dushyant Rai, the Rajbhasha consultant in the Railway Board, had explained, "The name Banaras means 'bana rahe ras'. This word reflects the real culture of the city. The people in Banaras enjoy everything. Be it 'geet-sangeet, puja-path and also misthanna-paan'," said Rai, who hails from the city. A top railway official of Varanasi division was then quoted saying by IANS: "The name Manduadih doesn't sound good and doesn't connect with the legacy of Banaras which the name Banaras does." Mughalsarai Junction is another important station located near Varanasi whose name was changed to Deen Dayal Upadhyay junction in October 2017 after the BJP came to power in Uttar Pradesh.

few hours of curfew relaxation everyday. While domestic air travel in India has now begun, and the Indian Railways has also started operating 200 trains, there still remains doubt regarding what our future holds. During such a time, as the rest of the country is planning to return to normalcy, and is waiting for the lockdown to end, Himachal Pradesh decides to go the other way. But as they say, prevention is better than cure, so perhaps it is the ideal decision. Maharashtra continues to be the worst affected state in this pandemic, with over 50000 confirmed cases of coronavirus. Only yesterday, the city of Pune recorded 459 positive cases of COVID-19. While Mumbai has somewhere around 30000 confirmed cases in the state.
